Independence and Mobility Regained
Before he came to Herbertpur Christian Hospital, Rakesh had tragically lost both legs below the knee. His limbs were amputated due to an autoimmune disease that causes the blood vessels to stop functioning, resulting in gangrene.
A young man, Rakesh was devastated by the loss of his legs and his freedom and mobility. He wondered what the rest of his life would be like.
At Herbertpur, the doctors researched the best way forward with Rakesh’s treatment. Thankfully, a visiting professor connected them with an expert in Rakesh’s condition, and they were able to determine what to do. Eventually, Rakesh was fitted with prosthetic legs and received therapy to learn to walk again.
Rakesh is thrilled that his life is not over and that he can get around independently. The dedicated team at Herberpur was thankful for his turnaround and for the part they were able to play.
