Trevecca Nazarene University
Physician Assistant Program Rotation

The Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA) is pleased to partner with the Physician Assistant program at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, and make available to students a clinical rotation serving in one of our 19 hospitals. With over 200 doctors and more than 900 nurses, EHA can offer a range of opportunities depending upon a student’s interest. Our facilities are located in medium-sized communities across North India and largely serve a poor and marginalized population.

Program participants live and work on the campuses of the hospitals. Accommodations are semi-private, often with shared bathing and toilet facilities. Food is provided in communal-style dining settings. The hospitals range in size from smaller clinic-type facilities with 10 to 20 beds, to full size multi-specialty locations with 100 to 200 beds. The medical services offered  at locations vary depending upon size and the background/training of medical staff.

Upon placement, students will be assigned to a mentor and will assist in the full range of activities required in the operation of modest, semi-rural hospitals with limited personnel and facilities. Professional communications are conducted entirely in English. Most locations also feature community health and development programs to which individuals will also gain exposure. Such public health outreach efforts are pivotal in service to the wider community, ensuring a growing number of the poor receive education in basic health and nutrition practices.

Life at the hospitals is enriched by community fellowship opportunities including worship services, daily chapels, and staff outings.

Participation in this international clinical rotation is offered on a rolling basis by application. The cost for a six-week experience is approximately $3,000, which includes all expenses exclusive of international airfare,  visa, and out-of-pocket costs. Those interested are well advised to begin the planning process at least six months in advance of starting the rotation given the preparation required for international travel, cultural familiarization, passports, and visas.
