Junior Doctors

What is a junior doctor? In India, the process of becoming a physician is a bit different than in the US. Students complete a 4.5-year MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) course, followed by a 1-2 year internship. After gaining this practical experience, these junior doctors go back for a 3-year specialization training of their choice.

Many junior doctors who choose to serve in EHA mission hospitals are graduates of renowned medical colleges in India, such as Christian Medical College, Vellore, and Ludhiana Medical College. Despite promising careers and opportunities before them, they have chosen to obey God’s calling and serve in remote, rural regions of India—among communities with the greatest need and the least access to quality healthcare.

These doctors face significant challenges, including limited resources, student loan repayments and the sacrifices that come with life and work in isolated areas. Yet, they remain committed to serving the marginalized with compassion, skill, and faith.

Your generous contribution will help them to continue their ministry of healing and hope among the most vulnerable. Together, we can stand with those who have answered God’s call and are transforming lives through service.
