Where Hope Found Her: A Story of Courage and Change

Lured away from her village by false job prospects, 18-year-old Hema was forced into sex trafficking. Isolated and terrified, she endured exploitation until a rescue by an anti-human-trafficking police unit brought her to safety.

After returning home, Hema struggled with fear and other effects of her trauma, but she was linked up with Duncan Hospital and received consistent counseling, home visits, and compassionate aftercare, which slowly rebuilt her confidence.

With support, she resumed her studies, completed high school, learned computer skills, and accessed government compensation.

Today, Hema is pursuing an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife degree at Duncan’s College of Nursing. Her journey from vulnerability to strength, dignity, and renewed hope is an inspiration to everyone around her.
