Palliative Care Makes All the Difference

Lakhnadon Christian Hospital’s palliative care program is in its 10th year and going strong. The team of four goes out daily to visit patients in nearby villages, providing medical care and emotional support to 91 people.

Their presence in the villages is often key to discovering people who need medical care. One man, Bisnu, lived in a village they regularly visited. He had a biopsy at another hospital due to some concerning symptoms, and was diagnosed with oral cancer. Brought to the team by another patient, Bisnu next visited Lakhnadon Christian Hospital for further medical care, and has since received four chemo sessions at a nearby facility. The palliative care team is encouraged to see the impact of their field visits in the villages, as those affected by cancer are now receiving proper treatment.
